This parable is possibly be the most misunderstood of all Jesus' teaching. So much so that one preacher remarked, 'This parable is of no relevance to us today.' But what does the Bible say..?

About the Book

Despite its prime location in the heart of Luke’s Gospel, the parable of the Shrewd Manager is not popular – in fact many Christians are only even vaguely aware of its existence. Jesus’ statement in this parable, that His followers should “use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings” caused one preacher to declare, ‘This parable is clearly of no relevance to us today.’

It’s true that this is not an easy parable to understand, but to dismiss it would be a mistake. Jesus’ teaching here is essential for anyone who considers themselves to be one of His followers.

This short Bible study seeks to work through this complex passage draw out the problem Jesus is addressing together with His solution, incentive for putting it into practice, and the real issue behind His teaching.

Pragmatic look at a command Jesus issued to His children; one not often addressed from the pulpit. Indisputable truths, straight from the Word of God.
This is a good study of a difficult passage of scripture. The author takes one of the most perplexing of Jesus parables and attempts to unpack its purpose and meaning. In many places he provides great insight and for that I was thankful. However, I gave it 3 stars because, overall, I’m not sure I fully understand it better after reading than before. Overall, I would recommend you give it a read!
